This is a fun sight word game in my Valentine’s Unit where they roll and write their sight words.
I found this cutie patootie tooth fairy art project on TPT for FREE. You can get it by clicking here. We will write a "how to take care of our teeth" writing activity to this. You can find it in my Science Unit. J
We made apple sauce last week so in this center, students are drawing/writing a “how to make applesauce” paper...first, next, last. It's in my Apple Unit. Trace, write, glue is a regular center that we do for word work. Then they read the words to their partner. Using sight words as many ways as you can will help with fluency and retention.
For the magnetic center, students had to match letters and then use the letters to make word wall words. I have a few students who don’t know all of their letters yet so this is how I can use scaffolding for this center.
For the Writing Center, students are making a popcorn words book with sight words. Then, they can practice letters or words on a dry erase board.
For this center, students choose a card, look at the picture, find the matching heart on the paper and spell the CVC word. This is also in my Valentine Unit. I was impressed how well they did on this independently.
In this center, students used the game Sight Word Soup that I purchased at Lakeshore Learning. They get the ladle and scoop out sight word noodles and then match the word.
For the fine motor center, students use these sight word play dough mats (Valentine Unit…I know, you are tired of reading that but I know someone will ask, lol) to make sight words. J
We read Mrs. Wishy Washy last week. I LOVE that book! In this center, students sequence the story pictures on a sentence strip.
This is a fun ABC game where students pull an object out of the “mystery box” and put it on the beginning sound letter.
This is a fun sight word scavenger game. I am not going to say where you can get but I am sure you can figure it out. HAHA! In this center, I have cut out the hearts with sight words and stapled them around the room. Students take the coordinating worksheet, look for the certain heart, and write the word next to it. J
Well, that’s all folks…for now! I hope this post wasn’t too long. J You know I have 20 literacy centers so I have to scale it down for you. I am totally wiped too. Now, don’t be jealous, but I took ALL of my sweet darlings to the rodeo today! I know…gasp! But, it was totally fun. The girls loved the cowgirls barrel racing and the boys loved the bull riding. But then, oh YES! EVERYONE loved the surprise BMX dare devil stunts. Yes, friends. That is how we go on a field trip in Texas! It really was great but I felt like I had run ten miles when it was over. Wait, if I ran ten miles I probably would be passed out…or dead. Strike that. Let’s say five miles. I think I could probably still walk at five miles. Yep, that will do. I was so
out of it tired when we got back that I sent home our Valentine party note which said the party was on THIS Saturday and left half of the kids’ names off the list. OMGoodness! I hope no one shows up on Saturday because I will not be there. Oopsie! Don’t worry, I will send another note home tomorrow…AFTER I have slept! Anywho, make sure you check back tomorrow. A friend of mine is posting about the importance of read-alouds and its good stuff! Have a fantabulous rest of the week!!
So, can you feel the LOVE yet?
What are you doing for your Valentine Party?
Love and virtual hugs!
