Morning Work

Greetings friends! I just got back from the Texas Kindergarten Conference where I presented on Phonics and Math Centers. I was soooo nervous! I hope everyone walked away with something they can use. Luckily hubs came with me to help me set up and tear down part of my classroom that I brought. Love him!!

Anywho, I can't believe it is almost February. Geez Louise! This school year has been flying by. I wanted to share one of my newest creations.
I have looked high and low for morning work for my students. There are several great things available online, but I was seeking something more independent for my students. I didn't want to have to explain each section every day. I created this set to buy me 5-10 minutes each morning to do attendance and lunch count. J

My thought process when creating this was to explain the objectives on Monday, and repeat the same concepts for the remainder of the week. Each week has a duplicated worksheet with minimal changes so students can be independent. Since our pacing guides may be different, follow your students and choose the week’s work based upon their needs. My goal is that my students will not need to ask me questions past Monday. For early finishers, I have my students work from our class earlyfinisher tub. I will be adding those each month to TPT for those who are interested. You can also have a task on the board from the to do. For example, turn you paper over and write your numbers as high as you can, or write you alphabet, etc. I do not do morning work every morning. We usually do it 3-4 times a week.

My hope is that this set will be enough to get me through most of the school year. The great thing about it is that you can go back and repeat any worksheet as necessary. You can also put these worksheets in a center too. Click on the picture above to see more. I personally hope they make my life easier. I plan on adding more in the future. Let me know if you have requests. As always, here is a freebie download to preview an easier and more difficult skills page. Click on the pic to grab the freebie.

Have a great day tomorrow! Love and virtual hugs!!

  3. Your morning work pack looks great. I agree for the need for more independent work that our kinders can do without much explanation. It's wishlisted on TpT...can't wait for the Superbowl Sale (hopefully you will be participating)!

If you do make more packs I would love practice with: simple fluency passages, find/circle the sight word, fix-it sentences, digraphs, maybe even silent e!?!?! Just some ideas:)
